Kewaunee School District is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Bennett has accepted the position as the new Kewaunee High School Principal. selection of Mr. Bennett is the result of a comprehensive search process that included teaching staff, students, administration, and a board member. He will officially begin to serve the Kewaunee Community on July 1, 2019. Mr. Bennett’s bio highlights the incredible experience he brings to our community:
Mike Bennett comes to Kewaunee from McKinney, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas. His experience in education spans 25 years and has taken him from elementary school teacher, to middle school assistant principal, to high school campus administrator at the McKinney High School, ranked in the top 5% of the nation’s high schools, according to the 2016 US News and World Report rankings. During his tenure at McKinney High School, the school saw gains academically and is at the forefront of taking proactive efforts focusing on the social and emotional needs of all students. Mike was a speaker at the University of North Texas Assistant Principals’ Academy, and he served as an administrative mentor for aspiring school administrators. Mike was instrumental in creating and implementing a curricular design center which gives teachers an opportunity to craft unique, authentic, and engaging lessons for today’s learners. Mike, originally from Beloit, Wisconsin, returns to his home state to serve the young people and families of Kewaunee. He, and his wife Jennifer are parents to two children (daughter, Morgan is a senior at Oklahoma State University and son, Haden will be a sophomore at The University of North Texas). They are truly excited to become a part of this beautiful and thriving community. Let’s go Kewaunee Storm!
