Counseling

Hello!
My name is Bailey Feest. I have been with the Kewaunee School District as the Elementary School Counselor since 2019. As a School Counselor I will always be a student's biggest advocate. Through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling I will help students develop an understanding of social and emotional skills. I will help students create an awareness and ability to understand, use and manage their emotions in a positive way to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict.
Services I provide:
Classroom Lessons
I teach in the K-2 Specials Rotation (every 3 days)
I push into grades 3 and 4 twice a month.
Curriculum used at the Elementary level: Kelso’s Choice, Zones of Regulation, and Character Strong.
Small Groups
Based on Teacher/Counselor/Parent feedback or observations
Topics vary, but may include: family changes, friendship, self-esteem, social skills
Individual Counseling
Based on Teacher/Counselor/Parent feedback or observations…could also be Student Request
I like to use a variety of methods to assist students, including games, art therapy activities and play therapy activities.
Topic: Home or School Challenges or Concerns
Frequency: Occasionally or Regularly Scheduled
School Counseling is meant to be short-term and goal focused. I am happy to help assist a child in any way possible, but outside counseling may also be beneficial.
I am also a member of a council called “Positive Behavior Intervention Supports-Social Emotional Learning- Mental Health Council” Through this team, I look at data at the universal Tier 1 level as well as Tier 2. This team uses student data to drive decisions in behavioral and academic arenas, promoting positive behaviors and strategically targeting areas of possible growth in academics. The SEL and Mental Health side of it is looking for ways to improve reaching all students and staff awareness of the importance of mental health as well as coming up with new ways to integrate SEL into our everyday teaching or have a monthly focus to bring an awareness to.
I strongly enjoy being a part of the Kewaunee community and look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
