JOSEPH INNIS CHOSEN AS NEW SUPERINTENDENT
The Board of Education has hired Joe Innis to become Kewaunee’s new Superintendent on July 1st. Joe retired as District Administrator of the Southern Door School District on December 31, 2011 after completing 23 years in that position. Prior to that Joe served as District Administrator of the Wabeno and Taylor School Districts. Obviously Joe brings a wealth of experience to Kewaunee.
Joe has outstanding knowledge, skills and disposition, and will do a great job serving as your next superintendent. There were eight applicants for the position, and four were interviewed by the Board. Joe was by far the most experienced, qualified and capable of all candidates. The Board of Education, Administrative Team and I are all very excited to begin working with Joe as he transitions into the position.
The School Board approved an initial two-year contract for Joe, at 60% time, which is the same as my contract this year. Based on a recent survey of 42 school districts in this part of the state, Kewaunee has the lowest-cost superintendent expense of any district. The total compensation package is about $70,000 less than what the district paid when they had a full-time superintendent.
I will spend time during the next three months bringing Joe up to speed on all of our district initiatives, especially in regards to our Strategic Plan. I am confident that the transition will be seamless and that the best days in the Kewaunee School District are ahead of us.
