STEM

Members of the 4th grade who have shown a talent and potential in STEM traveled to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay for a STEM Retreat with Ms. Krueger.  This is an opportunity for students to grow intellectually and increase their problem-solving ability through challenges. During the day they had hands on learning and exploration about the Doppler Effect, aerodynamics, mass, velocity and some history.  Students learned about drag and aerodynamics from a general who served 41 years.

They put their learning to work in teams to design & build a cardboard train engine that would withstand the impact of 4 bowling balls and protect their water balloon “engineer”. Students were given specifications about the size of their cardboard locomotive and were awarded points for both design and the bowling ball crash test.
