Hello Storm Family!
My name is Mrs. Feest, and this is my seventh year serving as the elementary school counselor in Kewaunee. This school year, I am teaching Positive Habits as part of the specials rotation for grades K,1,2, and 5. In addition, I visit 3rd and 4th grade monthly to talk about positive character traits.
So far, we’ve kicked off the school year by learning strategies for solving small problems, exploring different emotions, and practicing ways to calm ourselves. In 3rd and 4th grade, we began with lessons on kindness and respect. In 5th grade, we’ve been focusing on leadership, respect, and responsibility.
One of the things I am most excited about this year is introducing our new career mascot, Stormy! Throughout the school year, Stormy will travel home with 4th grade students. The goal of this program is to give students opportunities to explore the exciting world of careers.
Exploring careers not only helps students identify their interests, strengths, and potential, but also builds self-awareness and confidence. Exposure to different careers broadens students’ understanding of the many paths available to them in the future. Once I begin receiving photos of Stormy’s adventures, they will be displayed for all Kewaunee Grade School students to enjoy.
