Kewaunee, October 29, 2026 - Several student organizations and the football team from Kewaunee High School gathered this past week to host the third annual Trunk or Treat event. This event creates a safe, family friendly environment for children and students to kick off the Halloween weekend.

The event is hosted as a collaborative effort between the Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) alongside groups such as the Sunshine Club and the football team. Organizers emphasized that any student group is welcome to join in the fun as a way to connect with the community. This year all five of the CTSOs offered at Kewaunee High School decorated trunks including FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA, and SkillsUSA.

“Trunk or Treat gives our student organizations a unique opportunity to get directly involved with the community and share what our organizations have to offer.” said Jackie Pionek - FCCLA Adviser, HOSA Co-Advisor, and CTE Department Lead.

“Members of FCCLA and HOSA look forward to the event each year. They enjoy creating different games for participants to play as well as interacting with kids of all ages as they hand out candy and treats,” added Fran Patek - HOSA Co-Advisor.

Beyond the creative trunk displays, interactive games, and sweet treats, the event’s primary mission is to offer a safe trick-or-treating experience for children of all ages. Parents and local families appreciated the controlled, familiar environment where children could safely celebrate together.

The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of local sponsors including: Beyond Chiropractic, Carlton Hunting & Fishing Club, Footbridge Bar and Grill, Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department, Kewaunee County Health Department, Kewaunee FFA Alumni, Kewaunee Rotary Club, Matt’s Services, Novak Agency, and Rio Creek Feedmill.

Organizers are looking forward to hosting the event in the years to come and hope that it continues to grow. To learn more about student organizations offered at Kewaunee High School visit the Kewaunee School District website and follow the district’s Facebook page.
